“I’ve got an idea” and “let’s see what happens if..” Messing around in the studio/workshop..”I think it works”. This was a challenge to see things in a different way. Can you picture a whole field of giant Traffic Flowers..would that be a traffic (flower) jam?
Being passionate about our environment, Sabine creates art to help increase awareness and inspire thoughtful reflection about environmental issues and concerns. Consistent to this central theme, she uses alternative materials and found objects in combination with re-used or recycled materials in many of her sculptures. Striving to give things new meaning and new life by using common objects in unusual ways, Sabine is as inspired by the materials that she use, as she is by the theme of her work. Playing with form, texture and balance she creates tension and movement in pieces that softly underline our responsibility to our environment.
Born in Canada, Sabine studied Fine Art at the University of Guelph in southern Ontario. After moving to the USA in 1998, she has been creating art from alternative materials, sculpting with metal, wire, glass and concrete. Currently she designs, instructs and practices art at East End Studio and Gallery. Sabine supports creative reuse through the Scrounge Center for Reusable Art Parts in Marshall.
