JULY 5 – 9
ART BLENDER [ages 6 – 8]
8:30 am to 12 noon
Mix traditional and modern art techniques and materials this week and come up with fantastic combinations. Blend the best parts and make a style that you can call your own. This week will make you think about art in a new way!
FASHION ARTS [ages 9 to 13]
8:30 am to 12 noon
Make a unique stuffed sock monster or a trendy sock monkey. Paint and stamp your own designer fabric and sew a unique tote bag, great for your school books or art supplies. Make your own beads and then turn them into fantastic one of a kind jewellery. Take inspiration from the artwork of Karilee Fuglem to create a “floating” bracelet. You will also make a simple t shirt into a rock and roll inspired piece of art [shirt supplied by student].
SUMMER STUDIO [ages 6 to 8 and 9 to 13]
1 pm to 4:30 pm
Summer is here, so let’s make the most of it! This week is all about summer and sun. Gather your inspiration from the gardens and learn to paint en plein air just like the masters. Make art that comes alive in the wind and explore the FASTWURMS outdoor art installation.
JULY 12 to 16
MEDIA PLAY [ages 6 – 8 and 9 – 13]
8:30 am to 12 noon
This week will take a traditional spin on art. Get a chance to learn about many different art materials as you explore sculpture, printmaking, collage and earth art. Learn the basics the traditional way, and then use your artistic license to be creative!
MASTER IT [ages 6 – 8 and 9 – 13]
1 pm – 4:30 pm
Learn to master drawing and painting this week. Learn the basics of working with paints and different drawing materials including pencil, charcoal and pastels. You will be taught the tricks of famous artists and end the week with a great portfolio of work!
JULY 19 – 23

UNUSUAL ART [ages 6 to 8 and 9 to 13]
8:30 am to 12 noon
This week looks at the unusual art that is made today. Using interesting materials, you will paint, draw and make found object sculptures. Exploring the work of Karilee Fuglem in the gallery, you’ll learn to think like a contemporary artist and find creativity in everyday materials. You will also use everyday materials to make your own paper and a designer T-shirt [ages 9 – 13 only].
MODERN MIXES [ages 6 – 8 and 9 – 13]
1 – 4:30 pm
This is mixed-media art at its best. With all the art supplies available at Rodman Hall, why not get your hands messy and try them all! Mix drawing with painting, markers with pastels, collage and sculpture. You will also make musical instruments, lay down a track and take home a copy of your “band’s” CD. Create mixed media monsters [ages 6 – 8] and crazy stuffed sock monsters and monkeys [ages 9 – 13].
JULY 26 – 30
AMAZING ANIMATION [ages 6 – 8 and 9 – 13]
8:30 am – 12 noon
Now is the time to learn how to make your sketches of monsters and superheroes really shine. Take an ordinary object and make it an extraordinary creation. Learn how to draw facial expressions and make your characters move across the page. Learn to make your sketches into finished pieces and make a three-dimensional character. Take home your own animated collection at the end of this exciting week. You will also get to experience Graeme Patterson’s stop motion animated film and sculpture on display in the gallery.
GREEN AND CLEAN [ages 6 – 8 and 9 – 13]
1 – 4:30 pm
Come outside and hug a tree… and then paint it. Spend the afternoon learning about nature and how to make it part of your artwork using painting, drawing, sculpture and printmaking. Tie-dye your own t-shirt to complete your look [shirt supplied by student]. Use natural, recycled or repurposed materials to make “green” art and mix your own paints using natural materials. You will also get to create your own outdoor art inspired by the FASTWURMS installation on display on the grounds of Rodman Hall.

Full Day: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Member $169 / General $189
Half Day: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 12 noon OR 1 – 4:30 pm
Member $89 / General $99
