CALL to Female Musicians/Artists/Performers

Calling all Female Musicians, Artists and Performers!

Are you a female musician and/or artist looking to gain exposure in the Niagara Region? Gillian’s Place and Women’s Place South wants to invite you to enter a submission for the opportunity to play/perform at the 1st Annual International Women’s Day Festival: Celebrating Women in the Arts.

All Interested female artists/performers including musicians, dancers, comedians, etc. are enthusiastically encouraged to apply by contacting Joanne at joanned@gilliansplace.com or 905-684-4000 ext. 235. The only requirement is that the lead singer/performer is female. Please provide a sample of your music/performance in one of or all of the following formats (myspace page, youtube video, MP3 file, or CD). Submissions are being accepted up until November 30, 2010. A panel of judges comprised of local professionals will be selecting the performers for the day. The lucky few will be notified after this date.

Gillian’s Place and Women’s Place South are partnering for the first time in the organizations’ 30 year history to host the 1st Annual International Women’s Day Festival: Celebrating Women in the Arts. Featuring all female talent, the all-day festival will take place in Niagara Falls at the Greg Frewin Theatre on Sunday March 6, 2011. The event, the first of its kind in the Niagara region, is a fundraiser for both Gillian’s Place and Women’s Place South and will include an artisan vendor fair, food, raffle, and an artist’s showcase.

Vendors who are interested in participating can contact Joanne as well. Applications will be available online as of December 1st, 2010.

Gillian’s Place and Women’s Place of South Niagara are the only two agencies in the Niagara Region who are devoted to the vision of ending abuse by empowering women through the provision of safe shelter, 24-hour support line, safety planning, emotional support, legal advice, transitional assistance, education and community partnerships.
